Too many challenges were overcome with the continuous patience, persistence and hard work of our Interventional Cardiology Team. Although the main competitor Boston Scientific promoted an identical product, Promus, against our Xience V Drug Eluting Stent, and although our DES was present in the market for less than 3 years versus our competitors (Boston, Cordis & Medtronic), whom were at least 2 years ahead of us, we had no doubt that we would prevail. We played our winning card, customer relations, and had a clear strategy to sell clinical in order to minimize the effects of existing price wars and cutthroat competition.

Gulf Medical, with over 25 years of success in this industry, are leaders in the cardiac field which was once again demonstrated. With only a 5% market share in 2007, we successfully  developed our business and achieved  a whopping 50% share by the end of 2009 including the MOH sector, in addition to growing our business volume with ABBOTT Vascular by more than 25% each year.

The achievements of GMC and NMC were recognized by ABBOTT Vascular who presented Mr. Khaled Al Farah (Senior Director of Sales & Marketing-GMC) with a Special Partnership Award during the annual distributors meeting that took place in Cairo on 14th of January, 2010.
