On November the 1st 2009, King Faisal Specialist Hospital Jeddah, Gulf Medical and Maquet were ready for takeoff by launching the First ever “Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist and Open Lung Tool Workshop” in Saudi Arabia and Middle East. More than 70 Key opinion Leaders and guests from all over the Kingdom attended to have hands on the breakthrough they were waiting for!

The Workshop was preceded by an Official Launch for NAVA Technology in King Faisal Specialist Hospital Jeddah after the hospital has purchased it. Gulf Medical and Maquet team conducted Intensive Training for 15 Consecutive days to train the Physicians, Respiratory Therapists and Nurses on NAVA.

NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) is the revolutionary breakthrough that deals directly with the patient’s neural signal coming from the brain. Accordingly, it is much faster and accurate in assisting the patient to breath.

“On behalf of MAQUET and MAQUET Middle East, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for the professionalism, hard work and dedication that went into making the event the success that it was. The ground work of Gulf Medical team prior to the workshop and their direct participation in the event was key to ensuring our success and all of you executed in a superior fashion. Those who truly deserve honorable mentions are:

  • Ahmed Sabouba for his participation in the event as well as his 18 straight days of providing clinical support at the NAVA site.
  • Ahmed Fouad for his continuous support in seeing to it that all the arrangements for event continued on course as planned despite many obstacles.
  • Ismail Sami for his leadership abilities and for taking charge of the event when leadership was needed the most in order to ensure our success.” Said Bernard Fowler from Maquet Critical Care.

The new breakthrough opens the door to more sales for Gulf Medical in the near future as it is patented for Maquet Critical Care for the coming 10 years! Moreover, this event opened the door for similar events to be performed in Q1-2010 in 3 Strategic accounts.
