The unit has played an active part in developing the skills of leading medical practitioners across the Kingdom, and has an enviable track record that has lead to many awards from numerous suppliers and major clients to this day.

Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology is a branch of the medical specialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. The unit history achievements speak for it where it witnessed the first Valvuloplasty and Angiolplasty in the gulf region. This unit contributes 20% from the total cardio-vascular division business where Abbott Vascular, Numed, Toray, and Advamed are its main suppliers. Abbott Vascular with its full product portfolio in interventional cardiology is a market leader in its range. It mainly supplies drug eluting stents, bare metal stents, Semi-Complaint and Non-Complaint balloons, guide wires, specialty guide wires in addition to many other accessories including inflation devices, closure devices and others. Numed with its different supplies of CP stents and balloons is a leader in Pediatric cardiology. Toray, supplying the Inoue Balloon, provides a minimally invasive procedure for Mitral valve repair. And Advamed RadPad provides a new safe radiation protection device for the consultant and nursing staff. The interventional cardiology unit is progressively growing especially with the new acquisition of Guidant by Abbott Vascular and its unique drug eluting stent, XIENCE V.

Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management (CRDM)

CRDM is a branch of the medical specialty of cardiology that manages and treats electrical disorders of the heart. The unit has been always the leader in KSA and Bahrain by securing 70 – 75% average market share since it was initiated. In addition, the unit established strategic partnership with the major cardiac centers that are providing the electrophysiology service in KSA and Bahrain. The unit contributes around 35-40 % of the total CVS division business where Medtronic is the main Supplier. It supplies implantable cardiac devices such as Implantable Pacemakers, ICD’s and Loop recorders in addition to providing AF Solutions. Bard EP has also been added recently to the unit’s portfolio to cover the needs of the Electrophysiology field with its innovative EP recording system and catheters The unit extends its activities into conducting clinical studies {Registries, Randomized and Pre-Market release} and educational activities { Pacemaker and ICD implant workshops and referral activities}

The Vascular surgery and instruments

The Vascular surgery and instrumentations unit is a branch of the cardiovascular division; it contributes with 15% of the division sales. The main suppliers are WL Gore, Scanlan international and pilling. The vascular surgery and instrumentation is considered to be the partner of choice for all vascular surgeons in the kingdom, it holds the Major share of prosthetic vascular grafts, patches and endovascular solutions products supplied into the Saudi Market. It also supplies full range of state of art of surgical instrument for cardiovascular and other specialties.
